We drove to this session in a deluge. There was rain and thunder but the radar looked like it might clear up so we risked it – and look at the skies we were rewarded with! The skies are 100% real in these images! Darlene is a yoga instructor and we spent some time on the water with her family capturing some brand images and headshots for her new website. I love how her daughters jumped into the action to show off their yoga skills!
Check out one of the brightest rainbows I’ve ever seen! You can see a faint rainbow in almost all of the images and then the skies turned bright orange and pink just before the sunset.
memory boxes for bereaved families 2020
In support of the Perinatal Loss Unit at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Heartlove Photography will be creating and donating memory boxes again this year. Due to COVID-19, this will be a virtual event to raise the funds for the boxes.
JHH cares for almost 100 families each year suffering from stillbirth or early infant loss and provides each family with a box to hold small keepsakes from their hospital stay, including the infant’s foot prints, hat, hair clippings or other support items. They rely on fundraising to purchase the boxes – since 2016 Heartlove Photography has held community events to decorate boxes and provided them to the hospital at no cost.
When I planned the first event, I just wanted to relieve the nurses of the extra task of fundraising to purchase boxes for their bereaved families. What I found was events like this give space for people to talk about their babies who never left the hospital, to say their names and tell their stories. It gives strangers the opportunity to pour love into a room that they have never been in. It raises awareness for stillbirth and infant loss. We can’t heal the broken hearts of bereaved parents – but we can send love and intention to making the time they spent with their baby, no matter how short, a beautiful memory.
Starting last year, we added other support items to each box – such as individual handprint kits, glass bottles for locks of hair, lace handkerchiefs and other items that could comfort parents or wrap a baby.
As a virtual fundraising event, we invite you to give in honor of parents who have suffered early infant loss, stillbirth and miscarriage as well as the babies gone too soon. Please add a note to your donation if you’d like their names included in a public acknowledgement. In addition, if you’d like to include an affirmation, prayer or words of encouragement, we’ll add those messages as well.

Stories with Santa 2020 | Photos with Santa Maryland
2020 looks a lot different for so many reasons but we are going to keep the Santa tradition going!
This year, Stories with Santa will take place outdoors in Pasadena with Santa on an antique one-horse-open-sleigh. We’re only accepting 2 sessions per hour so each family can come and go without overlap. Santa will not touch or hold any children but he’ll read stories like always and interact in his usual jolly-old-style.
As in years past, each appointment will last 15 minutes. The sessions will be $350 including your choice of 3 digital images. Additional digital images are $49 each or $499 for the entire gallery. A $100 retainer is due to hold your appointment and the balance is due by the date of your session.
Because these will take place outdoors, I’ve planned for inclement weather. That means when you book your appointment, you already know exactly when you’ll be rescheduled. The 2nd date is only available for weather-related rescheduling. If it rains and we have to reschedule, you’ll keep the same appointment time on the new date. Please reserve both dates at the time of booking – alternative dates will not be available.
Rescheduling for illness: In the event that you or your child has a known exposure to illness or is having any symptoms including but not limited to fever, sore throat, cough, vomiting or diarrhea, you must reschedule. You will be offered a session with the sleigh but without Santa. The session must take place before 12/31/2020. Additional information about rescheduling is in the policies (you’ll view and sign them when you choose your appointment time.) Pease carefully read all of the information.

When you’re considering what to wear, plan for flat shoes (the ground is soft and heels will dig in) and weather appropriate layers. Kids who are too hot or too cold are rarely in a picture-ready mood. The early November average temperature is between 37-57º.
After choosing your time, enter your information and sign the policies then you’ll get an e-mail confirmation automatically and I’ll send over an invoice very soon.
The list of repeat clients grows each year, please reserve your appointment now. This event opens up to the public on October 1, 2020 and will sell out. In 2019, we had 60 sessions and this year we have less than 30.

I’m slowly getting to meet all the babies who were born during the initial COVID shut-down. This chunky 5 month old and her mama borrowed studio wardrobe for their session at the beach. The tropical storm had passed earlier in the day and left us with a few random rain showers and a spectacular sunset.

I LOVED this session at Wildberry Farm Market! Having a wildflower farm all to yourself is such a privilege and this family of 4, soon-to-be-5, plus their dog were a joy to photograph there. Mother and daughter borrowed dresses from the studio wardrobe and I think they paired perfectly with the whimsical feel of the wildflowers.

Sunflower Mini Sessions | Maryland Family Photography
Over the years I’ve driven (and flown!) all over to get to fields of sunflowers – fields like these are some of the most magnificent things to see in real life. For the first time ever, I’ve booked a flower farm so we’ll have the whole place to ourselves! That means freedom to run and play with social distancing for a session in the blooms.

We’ve rented the farm so we’ll have the place to ourselves with plenty of room to play 🌻 15 minutes is the perfect amount of time to capture a family portrait, couples, maternity or child milestone. Your session will result in a minimum of 20 images in an online gallery – you can choose your 3 favorites to download or purchase additional images. There’s no obligation to purchase additional prints or products, but if you wish to prints start at $19 and individual digital images are $39 each or upgrade to get the full gallery for $379.
