The eyelashes. The cheeks.
They call these “sitter” portrait sessions because baby is sitting and maybe crawling but not quite standing or walking yet. Babies do this between 7-9 months old give or take and it was probably the most fun part of babyhood for me as a parent. Their little personalities just shine and they cackle when things are funny. They sleep a little more soundly (usually) and their schedule gets a little more predictable but they aren’t quite big or fast enough to be “into everything” quite yet. It’s just a joy all the way around and I’m lucky to get to hang out with these little ones on the daily in my Pasadena MD photography studio. I provide all the props, blankets and wardrobe for babies from newborn to 18mo.

I absolutely love bringing my studio to a client’s home for a newborn session. This way we can create those posed, studio-style images while parents relax in the comfort of their own home AND include images of life with a newborn in the spaces you will want to remember.
This session was half posed and half lifestyle. That means half of the session was just like what I do in the studio – except the studio was set up in the client’s living room. This is a great option for those who would have a long drive to my Pasadena, MD studio, who wish to have their newborn images made before baby is 1 week old or generally want to take extra time to recover without leaving the house. I bring all the props, backdrops, wraps, hats and lighting – even wardrobe for mom is included!
After getting posed images, the family spends a little time enjoying snuggles with baby and all the family pets. This option truly is the best of both worlds.
Of course, many families choose just lifestyle images in their own which means I show up with just a camera in hand and capture about an hour of their regular day with a new baby.
