welcome home | BWI Homecoming Photographer

There are a few days in life that make it to the top of the list… your graduation, your wedding day, your children’s birthdays.  These most memorable, most anticipated, most joyous times are few and far between, military spouses and children get to add another day to that list: homecoming.

It’s such a pleasure to be at BWI for those amazing days (and nights) when families wait for their loved one to land safely at home after so many months apart.  Click here for information about booking your homecoming photography for free.

This sweet baby girl has spent much more of her life away from daddy than she has in his arms, but that’s all about to change…

This moment is the one that really chokes me up.  The little moment of celebration between mother and daughters – they did it together.  It’s hard to think about your spouse being away for so long as a blessing but for me the most beautiful memory was having time with my child that wasn’t shared with anyone.  It isn’t easy to be a “single mother,” but few get the chance to have so much time (as my daughter calls it) “just you and me.”BWI Military Homecoming PhotographerBWI Military Homecoming Photographer

Seeing these homecomings touches my heart and brings tears to my eyes. I personally know the feeling of those moments as well as the lost moments of when your love is away doing his part in keeping America free. My love and I were married 55 years, he was a 20 year army veteran with 4 Vietnam tours. He passed 9-18-11. Thank you for your posting these beautiful moments of joyful homecomings.

All the families who have been through this have a special connection – no matter the conflict or the decade, we know the wave of fear every time there is a knock at the door. We know the butterflies when a letter arrives. May each family be lucky enough to know the joy of a reunion like this. Thanks for sharing that with me Margaret!
