One of the biggest benefits to choosing a photographer with a studio is having the flexibility to shoot indoors when the weather is extreme. On this 14 degree day, we were excited to capture some photos with a blanket of freshly fallen snow but being outside for more than a few minutes was miserable! So, we met at the studio where mom-tp-be choose 2 gowns from our maternity wardrobe and captured a gorgeous set of images inside before we went to a nearby location to create images in the snow.

Sometimes while I’m editing images, I can’t help but to enjoy the emotion you notice when all the color is gone. Black and white images always have such an impact on me – especially in moments where parents are holding their sweet new baby skin-to-skin. I love the contrast between these loving, nurturing embraces and the shadow and tattoos.
When parents come into our Pasadena, MD studio, they often plan on being in a few images while the focus is on baby’s first portraits but when I imagine the images that will be most cherished, these tender moments come to mind.
