anne arundel county newborn portraits on the beach | eden
Late summer is the perfect time for outdoor newborn portraits in Anne Arundel County, MD. Have you ever noticed how much babies love to be outside? The glowing sunset, rippling bay waters and loving embraces make this the perfect backdrop to record the tiny features and big love in these early weeks.

waterfall maternity portraits in maryland | E+R
I never ever get sick of maternity portraits at Patapsco Valley State Park’s waterfall. There’s a beautiful, far-away feeling in this place (even though it’s so close to Baltimore) and when that is paired with the joy and anticipation of a new little babe – magic happens.

nursing portraits 2018 | pasadena, md photographer
It’s not about how you feed your baby – or really even what you feed them – it’s the moments you share with the weight of a baby in your arms.

They come and go so quickly.
Sometimes I savor every breath and others I wish away – hoping to get back to sleep or get back to work or get anything else done.
With these photos, I get so show a few moms what this moment looks like from the outside.
In celebration of the special moments spent feeding your baby, we’re offering free portraits for nursing parents. No appointment necessary, just walk-in between 9am and 1pm on August 26 at our Pasadena, MD portrait studio.
Sunday, August 26, 2018 9am to 1pm
Heartlove Photography 8971 Fort Smallwood Rd. Pasadena, MD 21122
These sessions will be styled to record the nuances of the parent-child relationship – many of the shots will imply nursing even if it’s just baby in arms – in many images you won’t be able to tell if that’s a breastfeeding baby or one who is just snuggling close.
FAQs:
What if my baby isn’t hungry at our appointment? Out of dozens of (if not more than one hundred!) 15 minute nursing portraits and have not met a baby who would not nurse! 🙂 The goal of these portraits is to show the relationship between parent and child, so snuggling a sleeping baby would be an absolute dream for this type of image. Especially older infants will nurse for just a minute or 2 and get distracted by me moving around with the camera, so there’s some implied nursing – where you cradle baby but from my angle there’s no way to tell if baby is actually latched or not.
How many images will I get? The session will result in 10-15 total images which will be available for purchase in an online gallery. Prints start at $19 and digital images are $34 – there’s no obligation to purchase any images, simply order what you’d like. The free session does not include any digital images.
Will these be posted online? Only with your explicit permission!
How do I book? RSVP on Facebook and walk-in!
Can non-nursing siblings join? Please reserve this space for the parents, babies, toddlers and children who are nursing.
This event is free and open to the public, if you’d prefer a private portrait session you can book one here.

baby makes 5 | anne arundel county family photography

Of all the places I shoot, the beaches of Anne Arundel County I grew up near might be my favorite. Paige and Dorian are expecting their 3rd baby any day now and it was my pleasure to photograph some of these moments before they become a family of 5. I truly admire the patience and freedom Paige and Dorian offer their children. It’s not everyday you meet a family that plays so easily together – wild and free or quiet and loving, they are just so easy with one another. I can’t wait to welcome their new little love to the world!

baltimore, md in-home newborn | lifestyle newborn photography
I photographed Allyson, Jeff and sweet Abigail in their Baltimore, MD home. In-home newborn portraits are quickly becoming one of my favorites to shoot in because of the relaxed and simple moments we’re able to capture. When Allyson and I met a couple of years ago and I could tell she’d make a wonderful mother one day – she’s so positive, thoughtful and caring. And likewise, when I met Jeff – he is just as patient and loving. I knew their early days of parenting would be filled with such love and intention – and after spending just an hour with them on a sunny spring morning, no words or images could capture just how much pure love surrounds the three of them.
Allyson’s pregnancy went past here “due” date and from the sounds of it, her labor was long and difficult – but she never complained. All I heard was her immense gratitude for the loving support she received and for the most precious child finally in her arms.
Abigail is just the most chill, quietly-aware soul. They didn’t rush to book this session, so when we scheduled their in-home newborn portraits, Abigail was about 1 month old. That gave them time to settle into life with a new baby and notice what about this moment in time will be worth remembering – like Abigail soaking in sunlight by their front window or sleeping in her cradle – a family heirloom. What an honor to witness this kind of extraordinary-everyday love.
And if I heard the angels sing
I’d Sing it back to you
and bring the Sound of heaven
ringing just for you…
