Ashton

In 2013, we found out that the child I was carrying, Ashton, had trisomy 13. We were devastated to know that if he survived birth at all, he wouldn’t live long.

We decided that the only thing we could give him in life was time and we were connected to Rising Hope, which is how we met Jill.

The whirlwind of emotions and the fears allowed us to lean on experienced others and allow life to guide us through.

We are so grateful that we did. We worried it was strange to take pictures in our situation. We were about to find out how wrong we were.

Ashton heart beat until delivery, the trauma of birth was too much and he was born still. Jill made us feel so comfortable, showed us so much love and took such beautiful pictures that we cried when we got them back.

Ashton’s body was taken from the hospital room but forever we have these pictures of our family at that time, in that moment, and together.

Truly, traumatic situations can feel surreal and we are utterly appreciative to have had Jill capture those moment. You don’t know how much you will need the pictures for healing, connection and love. She gave that to us.

We continue to reach out to her to capture our family to this day. She sees the world in an absolutely beautiful way and always shows us what we cannot see. Thank you for all that you do!
